The online congress to establish the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association was held with great success**.**

Vietnam Vascular Disease Association (VNVDA) was allowed to be established under Decision of the Ministry of Home Affairs No. 729/QD-BNV, signed on June 11, 2021. The Association is a socio-professional organization, including members operating in the fields of surgery, internal medicine, vascular intervention, diagnostic imaging and treatment of vascular diseases (except for vessels of the heart and brain). In the current complicated situation of the Covid-19 epidemic, in order to ensure safety and avoid crowded gatherings while strictly implementing the direction of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Health on Covid-19 epidemic prevention, with the consent of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Campaign Committee to establish the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association, morning day August 21, 2021, from the central point of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, the Association organized an Online Congress to establish the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association (or the 1st Congress) with the goal of perfecting the organizational structure, approving the association’s charter and operating directions for the 2021 - 2025 term.

Attending the Congress at the Bridge Point of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, on the Ministry of Health’s side were Mr. Do Xuan Tuyen - Deputy Minister of Health; On the side of the Ministry of Home Affairs, there was Mr. Pham Trung Giang - Deputy Director of the Department of Non-Governmental Organizations; On the side of the Vietnam Medical Association, there was Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuyen - President of the General Association (attending online); Mr. Nguyen Tien Quyet, Vice Chairman of the General Association; Mr. Bui Duc Phu - Vice Chairman of the General Association (attended online), Ms. Tong Thi Song Huong - Chief of Office (attended online).

On the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association side, there are vascular disease experts representing the Association: Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Huu Uoc - Director of the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Center, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital; Dr. Nguyen Trung Anh - Director of the Central Geriatric Hospital; Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Dang Luu - Director of Radiology Center, Bach Mai Hospital; Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Truong - Director of the Cardiovascular Center, 108 Central Military Hospital and a number of members of the organizing committee.

The Congress had the online participation of 17 gathering points (5 - 50 members/1 point - depending on regulations on epidemic prevention in each locality), such as: Hue Central Hospital; Cho Ray Hospital; Central Military Hospital 108; Dien Quang Center - Bach Mai Hospital; Central Geriatric Hospital; Quang Ninh Provincial Heart Association …; and nearly 300 individual bridge points nationwide, from the Northern mountainous provinces to Kien Giang province - of more than 400 official members of the Association.

At the beginning of the program, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Huu Uoc - Head of the Mobilization Committee to establish the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association said: During its development history, the Vascular Disease specialty has been scattered among general specialties, such as internal cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, diagnostic imaging and common activities in the respective specialized associations. But since nearly 30 years ago, along with the rapid development of medical facilities, techniques, supplies and drugs used in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases, especially the very in-depth understanding of physicians about vascular diseases in general, according to each group of diseases and each type of vascular disease in particular, the world has gradually formed Vascular Societies as well as various specialized vascular pathology associations to give vascular physicians a separate “playground” to target. Sharing and learning from each other knowledge and experience in diagnosing and treating vascular diseases - a value that will be difficult to express well in the activities of common specialized associations.

In Vietnam, although it developed later with some unique characteristics, the Vascular Disease specialty could not deviate from the common “track” of development in the world. Therefore, we can see that building and forming a separate National Vascular Association is very necessary, thereby helping to gather all Vietnamese physicians who are directly or indirectly involved in the process of diagnosing and treating vascular diseases together, to share, learn from experience, and improve the quality of protecting people’s health.

At the Congress, representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs announced and handed over the decision allowing the establishment of the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association to representatives of the Association.

On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Do Xuan Tuyen - Deputy Minister of Health sent congratulations to the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association as well as physicians working in the field of vascular diseases. He hopes that with the establishment of the Vascular Disease Association, the vascular specialty will develop faster and more firmly in a specialized and modern direction, entering into each field of vascular disease such as aortic disease, peripheral vascular disease, venous disease, combined Eastern and Western medicine treatment…; The Association will gather and unite members from many different backgrounds under one roof, contributing to the development of the country and improving the quality of service to the Vietnamese people.

At the Congress, elections were also conducted, in an online form - with a very high consensus rate, for the Presidium, Secretariat, Delegate Qualification Inspection Committee, Election Committee, Executive Committee, and Inspection Committee. The Executive Committee met in its first session to elect the Leadership Board, Standing Committee, General Secretary and a number of other functional committees. Accordingly: The Executive Committee includes 60 people; The inspection committee consists of 6 people; The Standing Committee consists of 13 people; The president of the association is Associate Professor, PhD. Nguyen Huu Uoc; The Vice President of the Association includes 5 comrades (BSCK-II. Tran Hoai An, Dr. Lam Van Button, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Van Truong, Dr. Nguyen Trung Anh, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Dang Luu); The General Secretary is MSc. Le Nhat Tien.

After nearly 4 hours of urgent, serious, and principled work, the Online Congress to establish the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association ended successfully, recognized and highly appreciated by leaders and all members.
