Dear Members,
We have just witnessed a great historical event, the Ministry of Home Affairs - Socialist Republic of Vietnam, signed Decision No. 729/QD-BNV, on June 11, 2021, to allow the establishment of the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association!
We respectfully inform and congratulate the Association and all Members!
In the history of development, the specialty of Vascular Disease has been scattered in general specialties, such as internal cardiology, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, diagnostic imaging; and active in corresponding specialized Associations. But in the last 20 years, along with the rapid development of medical facilities, techniques, materials, and drugs used in the diagnosis and treatment of Vascular Diseases, especially the very in-depth understanding of doctors about Vascular Diseases in general, and according to each disease group, each type of vessel in particular. Therefore, Vascular Associations as well as various specialized vascular pathology associations have gradually been formed worldwide to give vascular specialists their own “playground” to share and learn from each other’s knowledge and experience.
Although sharing the same goal of diagnosing and treating Vascular Diseases - with similar facilities and materials; the starting points of vascular specialists are not the same, mainly coming from 3 main sources: internal medicine, surgery, and interventional radiology. If they practice separately, each group will have its own advantages according to its basic specialty, but also lack a lot of support in knowledge and experience from other specialties. Therefore, the current general development trend is to gradually blur the boundaries between surgery, intervention, and internal vascular medicine…; to link more closely according to diseases, disease groups, treatment technique groups.
Dear Members, in Vietnam, although developing later with some specific characteristics, the specialty of Vascular Disease cannot deviate from the general development “track” in the world. So we can see that building and forming a separate Vascular Association for the Nation is very necessary.
Starting from practical requirements, and according to the aspirations of many doctors in the field of Vascular Disease - who are you, the Members of the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association today, so from mid-2019, we officially applied to the competent authorities for the establishment of the Vietnam Vascular Association (the official name now is the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association).
Our immediate task is to quickly complete the procedures to hold the 1st General Meeting. In the long term, we will jointly implement many diverse activities (conferences, seminars, training courses, projects…) specialized by disease, disease group at medical facilities nationwide.
On behalf of the Association Establishment Campaign Committee, I hope that all Members who have registered to join the Association and future Members… will make efforts to gather, connect with each other to cooperate, support each other to improve professional qualifications. We will join hands to build the Association to develop day by day.
