The Vietnam Society for Vascular Diseases attended the 23rd Scientific Conference of the Asian Society for Vascular Surgery (ASVS - Asian Society for Vascular Surgery) from October 20 - 24, 2022

Dear members of the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association,
During the days from October 20 to 24, 2022, the working group of the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association includes: President of the Association - Associate Professor, PhD. Nguyen Huu Uoc, General Secretary of the Association - Ms. Le Nhat Tien, Secretary of the Association’s External Affairs Committee - Dr. Phung Duy Hong Son, conducted a very important and meaningful business trip with the Society in Taipei City, Taiwan by attending the 23rd Scientific Conference of the Asian Society for Vascular Surgery (ASVS - Asian Society for Vascular Surgery), under conditions of Covid-19 epidemic prevention that are still quite strict in the host country. ASVS is the largest Society specializing in Vascular Diseases in Asia, with main members including 15 countries with the most developed economies and medicine in the region (Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Turkey, Saudi Arabia…) _ [http://www.asianvascular.com].
This is the first time that Vietnam has an official working delegation in the form of a corresponding organization with the Vascular Associations of other countries attending Asia’s leading vascular conference.
The Working Group has 2 main tasks:
1, Scientific reports and exchanges, learning, exchanges, and professional cooperation with experts from other countries.
2, Promote and introduce the image, history of formation and development of the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association. Protecting the right to integration and convincing the Member Councils of other countries (ASVS Council) to allow the Vietnam Vascular Disease Society to join and soon become an official member of the Asian Society of Vascular Surgery, the Asian Vein Forum, as well as the right to host the annual scientific conference of ASVS in Vietnam, contributing to enhancing the image of the vascular disease specialty, the Vietnam Vascular Disease Society, as well as the country and people of Vietnam in the eyes of friends on the continent and the world.
Result:
With meticulous preparation many months ago, flexibility and flexibility in communication and foreign affairs as well as persuasion in the report protecting Vietnam’s right to join the Association, it has brought worthy results.
At 4:30 p.m., October 22, 2022, at the regular meeting of the Board of Directors (Council) of member countries (similar to the Executive Committee meeting in Vietnam), held at the 23rd ASVS Scientific Conference at the Taipei Marriott Hotel - Taipei, in both live and online form, with the chairmanship of ASVS General Secretary - Professor Stephen CHENG (Hong Kong), May 15, 2022. The administrator (Councilor) representing member countries has highly agreed on the proposal of the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association to join and become an official member of ASVS. Furthermore, the Board of Directors also approved the orientation for Vietnam to be the host country to host the 27th ASVS Scientific Conference in 2026.
This is good news and a big turning point for a young Association like the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association - “pregnant” for more than 2 years (from the 20th ASVS in 2019 in Bali - Indonesia), and just over 1 year old (Decision of the Ministry of Home Affairs allowing the establishment of the Association on June 21, 2022). This will certainly open up great opportunities to integrate with the continent and the world, raising the level of Vietnam’s Vascular Disease specialty.
The Association’s Secretariat will urgently carry out the next work with relevant ministries and branches according to the provisions of Vietnamese law, to urgently complete licensing procedures for the Vietnam Vascular Disease Association to officially join the Asian Society for Vascular Surgery.
The Association’s leaders would like to announce the good news to all members and colleagues in the profession across the country to know and celebrate together.
